Matter of fact, it was never off the shelves at all for the past 20 years. Game stores like Game Crazy, Game Dude, etc, carried used stuff for years. And console on a chip clones have covered the rest of the gam.

In Japan, some Famicom games came on floppydisk-type things. You could go to special "vending machines" and insert your floppy disk and it would erase the data for that game and write over a new game of your choice at a significantly lowered price.

Gunpei Yokoi was a loyal employee of Nintendo since the 60s. He made Game & Watch and the Game Boy.

He made one mistake and was booted out of Nintendo. When he tried to make a rival company, Nintendo knew he was a threat and orchestrated a car "accident" that killed him.

Just thought you should know.

That's just an urban myth. Although, the Wonderswan was designed by him for Bandai and the game Gunpey was titled in his memory.

He actually quit since Nintendo window seated him. The initial car accident isn't what killed him either, he was hit while he was checking on his car after the accident.
>>

Hiroshi Yamauchi, the president of Nintendo at the time, had strong ties to the Yakuza. It's a little too convenient that Yokoi would die right when he started having success outside of Nintendo.

Miyamoto hated Rareware.

He will tell you, to this day, that he hates Donkey Kong Country and thought it was just popular because of the graphics. He actually believes they ruined Donkey Kong.

The N313 is a reference to Metal Gear's internal code name within the development team.

By the way, Snatcher's code name was N328 and its working title was JUNKER (the organization Gillian Seed works for in the game).

Final Fight's original title was Street Fighter '89. Capcom originally wanted a Street Fighter sequel, but Yoshiki Okamoto wanted to do a brawler instead due to the popularity of Double Dragon. After Final Fight was released, Okamoto decided to work on a real Street Fighter II.

Metal Gear Solid 1 is sort of a remake of Metal Gear 2. It had many enemies, plot devices, and locations that were similar.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is very similar to Metal Gear Solid 1 because the bad guys were actually making Raiden go through a simulation of Shadow Moses.

So, basically, the same game was recycled twice.
>>
>>146393361
Even though that's fake, there's a grain of truth.

Donkey Kong Country WAS popular because of the graphics. The game itself was pretty mediocre.
>>
The N64 has something weird with how it renders textures. This makes it impossible to emulate correctly on a lot of systems while you can put a PS1 emulator on your iPhone with no problem.
>>
>>146394020
Not exactly. They do recycle a lot of events from the MSX2 games in MGS1 and MGS2, but it's not like they're scene-to-scene remakes. The similarities between Metal Gear 2 and MGS1 are pretty parallel to the similarities between A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.

There was another version of Resident Evil 2 that is different from the game that was actually released. This earlier version of RE2, now known as Resident Evil 1.5, was in an almost-completed state when the lead designers, Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya, decided to cancel when they were dissatisfied with the resulting product and decided to restart development from scratch, leading to the Resident Evil 2 we all know. RE1.5 featured a blonde girl named Elza Walker as the heroine instead of Claire Redfield.
