If the Saints had the belt coming into this year, then the Raiders are the current belt holders (Falcons beat Saints, Eagles beat Falcons, Titans beat Eagles, Chargers beat Titans, Raiders beat Chargers).

Great idea, but this just doesn't work.
The team that wins the superbowl could win it without winning said belt. Let's say the Packers went 13-1 the season after the 1st superbowl, which they won, lets say they lost to the Vikings the last game of the season. The Packers still go on to win the superbowl again, but the Vikings, who, for the purpose of my point, didn't make the playoffs, have the belt for the entire off-season. Technically the belt would be the Vikings to lose the following season.

tl;dr it doesn't work the way you think it does

I just came up with a cool idea.

It's basically, the Championship Belt spot.

If you have the championship belt at the end of the season, you automatically make it to the playoffs. It would keep teams playing hard and crappy teams still have a shot at the playoffs.

Granted it's only an idea, but it sounds cool with some tweaking.
