Actually a pretty neat design. Like a giant blowback handgun.

Wonder how ballistics and what not compared to the stg44.

Also, Canada here, anything think it's a good idea to buy the GSG STG44? Some guy imported them and is selling them for $650. Still in kurz though

I've handled 1911s in both 9mm, .40, .45, and .38 super.

Nothing compares to the the Vis 35. Heavy, accurate, sexy.
Can totally see why people call it one of the finest made.

Pic related, my 1940 Grade II with a slotted backstrap, Soviet capture marks, and finely polished steel.

Honestly though, I really want an Inglis Hi-Power with Tangent sights and a buttstock so I can have fun.

At the last Tanner gun show I went to some guy was selling a sporterized one going for $3000.
I wanted to slap the fucker that decided that it would make a good sporting rifle...
Also, it failed because the rotary magazine was too bulky and made the rifle handle poorly. The Garand was already called a "pregnant" rifle...

I've been to many gun shows and have never seen one, despite its condition, lower than $800.

It was actually a bid to replace the AK entirely. Apparently It was more reliable/durable mechanically, but the body was plastic and back in the 60's no one knew if the plastic would hold up to the cold, so they killer the project.

This is what happens when a Brit Sterling SMG makes sexy time with a Bren gun.

It's a stop-gap weapon based on the Sterling SMG. Easy to produce, and just good enough to get the job done if there are not enough light machine guns to go around when the commies invade. It uses a lever delayed blow back and feeds from 7.62x51mm Bren gun magazines.

That appears to be the Pedersen Device. It's a conversion that turns a 1903 springfield rifle into a semi-auto carbine. It fires it's own special .30 caliber ammunition from a 40 round two column magazine. They were intended for use in WWI, but the war ended before they could really be fielded. Really rare today, as most were trashed after.

The Czechoslovakian Samopal ZB47.
This thing has a sort of rotating wheel connected to the bolt that feeds ammo form the magazine into the chamber. This allows the magazine to be mounted at strange angles without having to tamper with the feed lips or stack the ammo diagonally in the magazine.

It's "Volkssturmgewehr"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkssturmgewehr
Volk = people
Sturm = assault
Gewehr = rifle

The "Volkssturm" (people's assault) weren't exactly conscripts, they were mere civilians hastily trained and fitted with only the most basic supplies. Bear in mind that all men of the appropriate age (17-59) were already soldiers - the Volkssturm consisted of boys and old geezers

Interestingly enough, some of the bullpup rifles used by EF troops in the OAVs show surprising similarities to the EM2.

"The PSh used a two-stage feed system, borrowed from the 1900-period Gabbet-Fairfax “Mars” pistol of British origin. This system, in which the cartridge is first pulled back from the magazine and placed on a lifter, then raised inline with the barrel and fed forward and into the chamber, was necessary because of the elongated barrel, which protruded back into the action. To further complicate the construction, its designer Shevchenko used a very rare gas-operated locking system first (and probably last) used in a WW2-era prototype Horn assault rifle from Germany. This system employs two small gas pistons that are forced by gas pressure sideways from the frame and into locking recesses in the slide. Another strange feature was a hand-cocking device, probably taken from HK P7 pistol, but in a twist – instead of full-hand cocking lever PSh employed some form of a second trigger, located below the “primary” trigger and used to cock the striker when pressed by one middle finger. If you still not have enough of this design, it also had a ribbed, aluminium jacket on the barrel, and a very special sort of slide stop, that locked slide open once there was ONE cartridge left in the gun. The claimed purpose of this arrangement was to allow shooter to make its “deliberate last shot” – in its own head, probably."
>>
>>11996849
I like the bit where it locks back when there is one round left. Seems like it would still allow the shooter to... shoot, if he's magdumping and has to make that last shot to acually hit something. And that automatic +1

Well pointed objects do a very good job of punching through kevlar, problem is that I cannot see an arrow type projectile fragmenting very well.
>>
>>12003148
It was actually good, it got rejected because they used a sabot to fire it.

When the sabot broke apart it could injure friendlies who were nearby, that and shitty plastics...
>>
>>12003202
so basically it was a good idea on paper, and paper only. shame
>>
>>12003264
Not quite, I'm sure someone will figure out how to fix the problems and make it effective.

perhaps someday we'll have soldiers firing mini-arrows magnetically with rail-weapons.
>>
>>12003319
and then someone will come around and go "hang on why arnt we just using balls or bullets". i dunno, i just see arrows as a product of a totally different projectile requirement. I imagine theres something better, even if it goes back to "arrows"

Does the Webley count as a forgotten weapon?

It's rarely discussed here, no longer being manufactured, uses a caliber that is also no longer being manufactured, and is British.

>>

Yes, like the new Benelli shotguns (I'm not good with shotguns actually so I think I got the name wrong, maybe its Beretta).
>>
>>12007727
inertia operation on Benelli and Remington and some other semi auto shotguns is fairly common. the gas operated shotguns are far rarer; the most current popular one being the Benelli M4
